This "Reply Date Extended To 9-5-00" email will be the last distribution of the 2000 Metrics Survey Questionnaire that you will receive. We have been diligent in removing people's names that asked us to do so after the first mailing, and the names of the many people that have already sent us completed surveys. We believe this mailing is reasonably "clean." We have made a best effort not to make errors in who receives this final distribution of the questionnaire. We hope that you will understand that our 6-Sigma database maintenance goal may still not result in perfection even though we have tried in earnest do the right thing.

If you have not yet taken the survey, we would appreciate your survey's return by no later than September 5, 2000. As a result of mid-summer schedules, we have extended the survey return deadline. However, due to our time constraints, it will not be possible to tabulate surveys received in our office after Tuesday, September 5th. Survey returns may either be faxed to GGI at the number below, or returned to us via regular mail and courier service.

In exchange for your survey questionnaire's timely return, we will send you a comprehensive Executive Summary of survey results during November 2000, once all survey questionnaires have been processed and analyzed. The Metrics Survey findings will better assist you to understand your organization's product development practices in contrast to industry practices.

The 2000 Metrics Survey focuses on product development portfolio management and measurement. Survey results will be initially presented to the public at the 5th Annual Management Roundtable Metrics Conference entitled "Portfolio Metrics: Linking Product Development to Corporate Profitability," which will be held at the Chicago Westin River North on November 1-3, 2000. The survey consists of twenty-eight questions. It covers five of the hottest and most relevant topic areas in industry being discussed by R&D and product development professionals: R&D Linkages To Corporate Strategy, Portfolio Management Metrics, Product Selection Metrics, Product Success Metrics and R&D Metrics Used In Industry.
