This article explores the coming changes in the way companies account for and manage their intellectual property (IP). Factors affecting IP decision-making are discussed including costs, valuation and the life cycle of the IP. Results from GGIï¿½s 2004 Product Development Metrics Survey provide data on the current state of maturity of the IP management decision process compared to that of the product selection process.
